I plan on using a few different short genre pieces to explore the importance of dialogue and then address how dialogue is punctuated in these different contexts, as well as how dialogue can affect meaning, tone, and purpose.
Students will work in small groups to compose a short piece of writing that involves punctuating dialogue, and then we will talk about how dialogue functions differently when reading and writing different genre types.
